FORE Her Is For Him, Too: Time to Get In On The Fun!

Hey, I’m going to let you in on a little secret that I’ve been sitting on for a while. The content in the FORE Her newsletter is lit. It’s not really a secret to current subscribers, but those of you who have yet to join the cool kids, let’s go.

I have had the honor of contributing to FORE Magazine for almost five years now, but this month marks the one year anniversary of being named editor of the SCGA’s monthly newsletter, FORE Her. Why am I mentioning this and how does it pertain to you? I’m just trying to save you from some FOMO here by gently urging you to subscribe. It’s probably the easiest thing you have ever done to be part of the “it crowd.”

Because here’s the thing: The FORE Her newsletter is the most read of anything the SCGA sends out. Why? Because it’s so much more than simply women’s golf news and information. Most of my male golf friends use it as a resource to help them stay current and informed through the newsletter’s travel pieces, golf tips, local human interest stories, celebrity interviews and pieces on current golf events. They even dig the fashion blogs.

Yep. We women aren’t the only ones who like to look good on the golf course. And many husbands and significant others have scoured our fashion pieces in an effort to score the perfect wardrobe addition for their loved ones as gifts or tokens of appreciation.

The game of golf does not discriminate when it comes to pertinent information and how it is accessed. The more resources the better. Some of my fellow PGA professionals are steadfast subscribers because they realize it is important to keep their finger on the pulse of local golf news specific to their female players and members. It helps to ensure their golf club is of equal value to both the men and women who give them their business.

Both of my brothers initially subscribed to the newsletter because I made them, but if you have a brother, or if you are a brother and want to impress your sister, this would be a good first step. It’s amazing how the game of golf can bond siblings. The more you play and the more you share, the stronger your relationship. I think I heard that from a prominent family therapist somewhere. But don’t quote me on that. And it reaches much further than siblings. This bond encompasses all relationships.

One of my best (and single) male golf buddies was matched up with two female players recently. He excitedly told me that he mentioned something he read in FORE Her and the two women had read the same article. He admitted that it was a great icebreaker on the first tee box.

Did he get a date out of it? Sadly, no. I’m not claiming this newsletter can work miracles. I can claim, however, that you will find information that adds value to your golf game and knowledge base in general.
