Cleveland Gets Its Groove On

Best known for its classic wedges, Cleveland Golf has emerged with its latest model to help you around the green. The RTX 4 ($140 apiece) features the fourth generation of the brand’s Rotex face technology. In layman’s terms, the sharp grooves on the clubface now generate more backspin on your approach shots, thanks to aggressive face milling and more precise laser milling.

“It feels like the ball is really spinning off the face,” says Shane Lowry, one of the company’s PGA Tour pro staffers. “There are extra little grooves in there, which makes it definitely spin more.”

The wedges are shaped to better player preferences, as well, with a more compact blade profile and less offset. That means you can work the ball flight a little easier while having more visual confidence as you address the ball. And it’s offered in four sole grinds — FULL, MID, LOW and an all-new XLOW — for versatility around the green. Progressive feel balancing technology is optimized by loft, for even more short game control.

“It’s got that soft feel, which is so nice,” says Graeme McDowell. “And I like the feeling of using the back bounce on the wedge.”

Offered in lofts of 46 through 60 degrees and three finishes, these will hit local golf shops on September 14.
